Gangs in detroit
History
From the 1900's- 1960’s gangs were originally social organizations; for example clubs, committees, and workforce, and still were geographically linked, in the 1970’s gangs evolved into street gangs, which drifted toward criminal actives. They are the generators of murder, drugs, robbery, etc. No longer are they acceptable and contained, They are pure savages craving fast money and a fast life style.
One of the earliest gangs was the Errol Flynns. The Flynns developed a good structure on the eastside of the City. Like most gangs the members had creative nick names and hand gestures that would provide a quick identity. Their specialty was heroin, the members became quite wealthy and had 400 members at their height of activity. Many smaller gangs began to show up, especially on the west side. The “Dexter Boys”, “Schoolcraft Boys”, “7 Mile Boys”, and the “8 Mile Sconys”
The new gangs began to cut into the Errol Flynn's market, because they had a new and cheaper alternative to heroine, Cocaine. Eventually cocaine took over the city and the Flynn gang began to fade away.
From the years of 1978-1982, a new gang arose, They were called the Young Boys Inc. (Y.B .I.), they were more sophisticated and organized, they controlled more than 80% of the of the concaine that was on the streets. The Y.B.I. began to pay minors to transport their product to other places, Minors wouldn't get in as much trouble as someone who was 18yr or up.
